Clifton E. Lemons, P.E. - Senior Consultant


Key Technical Areas: Manufacturing Process Development; Assembly and Plating Equipment; Auxiliary Equipment for Stamping, Plating and Molding; Prototype and Quick Turn Tooling; Start-up Processes; Trouble Shooting, Cost Reduction and Re-engineering.

Bio: Cliff has over 40 years experience with AMP holding key positions of Manager, Principal Engineer, and Director of Manufacturing Development and; Division Manager, Manufacturing Tooling. His responsibilities included designing, development, fabrication and installation of manufacturing processes and equipment for all types of interconnection products. He is known for his trouble-shooting ability and knowledge of high-speed tin and selective gold plating lines. Cliff reduces costs by being creative and using management tools such as Design For Manufacturing (DFM) and Value Added Management (VAM). He enjoys team building and training. Bio: Ron has 27 years of connector industry experience primarily in engineering and R&D. He led both technical and marketing efforts at AMP, was Director of Engineering at Augat-LRC Electronics / Thomas & Betts, and served as Vice President of Product Development at Stewart Connectors (Insilco). His experience spans wire-applied, board-mounted, military avionics, RF, cable TV, coax, fiber optic, telco / data, power, medical, and other connector products.

Ron expedited the completion of dozens of new products from initial concept through commercialization, optimized product & tooling designs, and executed over $2MM in profit improvements. He is an experienced patent interpreter and able to advise on "design-arounds". He conducted due diligence for potential acquisitions and mergers, and re-structured the development process at a number of companies dramatically reducing time-to-market.


Ron has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, completed graduate courses toward an MBA, and holds 30 patents.


Robert A. Michelson - Senior Consultant

Bio: Bob has over 32 years experience in the connector industry specializing in the areas of failure analysis, plating recommendations, plating manufacturing processes, training, and specification writing. He is a specialist in contact surface problems and solutions (especially porosity), surface finish requirements, and solderability needs. He has global experience in manufacturing best-developed-practices and has implemented cost reduction programs to save his employer over $30 million in annual gold costs. He acted as an ombudsman between the company and its customers in electrical contact related problems. A graduate of Harvard University, he is a member of A.S.T.M (American Society for Testing and Materials), and is involved with writing the metal finishing (plating) specifications.

C. Edward Reynolds - Principal Consultant

Bio: Ed has over 44 years experience with most aspects of interconnection products. He has worked on a wide range of products including switches, fiber optics, fasteners, magnet wire terminations, sockets, modular jacks, high speed I/Os, flex circuits, MID (molded-in-devices), and many surface mount products. He has experience in the computer, peripheral, telecommunications, automotive, consumer durable, consumer electronics, motor, transformer, small appliance, and power tool industries. Ed held the title of Principal Engineer and Director of Development Engineering at AMP. He is noted for his ability to develop new product lines from the initial concept and carry them through volume production.

Paul C. Schubert, Jr. - Senior Consultant

Bio: Paul has over 31 years of in-depth experience working with polymers. 28 years of that is within the connector industry. Paul's responsibilities have included selecting polymers, explaining polymer properties, determining flow behavior, extending the useful working life of polymers and selecting manufacturing equipment. He has solid technical knowledge of high-speed progressive stamping, continuous strip selective plating, injection molding, and automated component assembly. He is skilled at assessing and evaluating unstructured strategic manufacturing problems and developing and executing implementation and improvement plans. He had Global Logistics experience as a U.S. Navy Supply Officer. Larry has a B.S. in Industrial Engineering.

Matthew Sucheski - Senior Consultant

Bio: Matt has more than 43 years of broad experience in product and machine design and development. His accomplishments include the successful initiation and introduction of a novel, high-speed, backplane connector family (AMP Z-Pack) and effective management of a custom machine design and build department specializing in high-speed assembly of small, loose piece components. He is experienced in the design of all levels of application equipment for terminals and connectors from hand tools and fixtures to semi-automatic operator assist machines and fully automated production lines. AEIC consultant activities include revitalization of a major client's cost reduction program and accelerating the implementation of a comprehensive manufacturing program. Matt has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

I-yuan Wei, Ph.D., AESF Fellow - Principal Consultant

Bio: I-yuan has over 25 years of connector industry experience developing new contact finishes and high-speed reel-to-reel plating processes including: ultra thin gold technology, palladium and palladium alloy plating, non-corrosive coating, hydrogen embrittlement, pulse plating, alternatives to tin-lead, graphite composite coating, and high temperature coating. He worked at AMP for 17 years and had a last position of Director, Contact Materials Technology. He served on the Board of Directors of the American Electroplaters and Surface Finishers Society (AESF), was chairman of the Electronics Finishing Committee and chairman of the Meetings and Symposia Section. He received an AESF Recognition Award in 1994 and was elected as an AESF Fellow in 2000. I-yuan holds a Ph.D. degree from Tufts University.
